Will You be the First?

I was browsing my Facebook account earlier this morning when I chanced upon a certain “K” (name and image edited for privacy) posting short one-word comments in a Philippine politician’s Fan Page.

It  seemed to be some sort of contest – with himself or others perhaps – on who would be the first to post in a particular topic, without consideration or thought if it contributed anything  important (for or against) in the current discussion.

Pondering on a Field of Dreams

I’ve been going through my collection of movies and decided to revisit one of my favorites that I first watched almost 20 years ago – Field of Dreams, a movie by Phil Alden Robinson.

I don’t have much time to watch the movie end-to-end but I do remember the great lines, the MPs (Memorable Passages, as my high school teacher, Mr. Pagsi says) and the scenes as vividly as on the big screen when it first came out.

Two scenes struck me the most – the first when Ray (Kevin Costner) traveled back in time, met Dr. Graham, and asked him what his one wish was.  The other was by Terence Mann convincing Ray that “people will come.”

A Dilemma

So you’re visiting your grandparents’ barrio which you haven’t been to ever since you were born.  It’s laid back, with one main road leading to and from the town.  It’s quite peaceful (and quite) most of the time, except for the occasional  overloaded mini-bus that traverses the place every 30-45 minutes.
